Comedian Lewis Black to Perform for Troops on USO Tour at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar

ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Grammy Award-winning comedian, actor and author Lewis Black will have service members and their families on the edge of their seats with laughter at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar's Bob Hope Theater as part of a USO entertainment tour August 15. This is the first USO performance for Black, who will visit one-on-one with service members, sign autographs and bring his unique blend of comedy to a crowd of approximately 1,500 troops and family members. He will be joined by special guests John Salley and Rob Dibble, co-hosts of Fox Sports Network's "The Best Damn Sports Show Period."

Known for his hysterical social satires and trademark angry finger- shaking, Black has performed to sold out crowds all over the world with frequent stops at New York City's famed Carnegie Hall and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Regarded as one of the highest grossing and hardest working live performers, he averages more than one hundred shows a year and is the creator behind "Back in Black," a commentary segment on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show with John Stewart."

"I'm genuinely excited about performing in Miramar," says Black. "I've performed all over at an array of different venues, but none have brought me as much joy as this upcoming concert -- working with the USO and performing for the troops -- it's a real honor. "

Born and raised on the East Coast, Black received a Grammy Award in 2007 for his CD, "The Carnegie Hall Experience." A graduate of the Yale School of Drama, he has written more than 40 plays and co-starred in such films as "Man of the Year" with Robin Williams and "Farce of the Penguins" opposite Samuel Jackson. He has also written "Nothing's Sacred," an autobiography which debuted on the "New York Times" Bestseller List, as well as appeared on such shows as "Larry King Live," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "Late Show with David Letterman."
